Thanks for your kind welcome! Hamish, were are you going to? Hey Mike, I'm so bold and answer on behalf of Hamish as he is still having a wee snooze... We're planning to visit his family first who is living in Glasgow and Stirling/Dunblane area, then up north to Inverness and the west coast. Though we've been at the west coast before there was never time enough for a longer stay... so really looking forwards to it. We might take our dog with us.

We will pass Inverness, too. Unfortunately our favourite B&B in Inverness is closed that date. Therefore we will not stop there. However, we will go on my favorite route via Altnaharra to the north-coast. I am always pleased to meet this sign with the german words 'beware of lambs' One week later we will go down via Ullapool to Loch Shiel and stay there for 2 more weeks. Finally, we will visit some of my favorite places: Pitlochry Loch Rannoch - where I have been so many times.... ...sniff... Kind regards McNass

So beautiful pics of such beautiful places .. *sighs*...I'm saving money to do a trip in about two years if everything goes well. I'm so looking forwards to it and in the meantime I'm enjoying to look at the photos and to try to imagine to be there in person.

It is really hard to wait so long... We should make a plan how to shorten the remaining time! When my children were too young I had to wait for more than 10 years to visit Scotland again. All I could do was the following: Survival-Plan until next Scotland-Trip:1. Starting with planing were to stay 2. Investigating what kind of B&B's or self-catering cottages are in that area 3. Planing the route 4. Eating Porridge as often as possible 5. Counting the days 6. Exploring Scottish websites 7. Checking out whats the best against midges Any more ideas? Kind regards McNass

They have been trying for years to keep the Midges at bay. And so far nothing has worked. What I have noticed is that the Highland Midge has a worse bite than the Central or even Low Land Midge.
So if any body can find a cure for Midges then they small be Millionaires.
It should be noted that even the Scottish people do not like the Midges. So what chance do the tourist have.

Yes, Neil, thats why I like to stay in the northern part... ;D
I do not have much problems with Midges, looks like they don't like me. However, I think Midges are a serious problem (please dont laugh). I remember many years ago in the Midlands, there were a few midges only. They're getting more and more.
Is that because so many trees in the northern Part of Scotland were cut?

Kind regards McNass I like your Survival Plan, McNass! Yes, I'm doing most of these things for quite a while already and will do so until I will be able to make this first trip- I call it "first trip" because I'm sure that once I have been there I will have to come back again and again.

Think this might be due to Scottish People moving to Midlands looking for work. And the midges hiding in their cases etc.
