Hey Bruce, Ciamar a tha thu? How's it going? So, you lived just on the other side of the border? I guess there's not much difference living on the border between England & Scotland, is there??? Hi Mo, everything's going fine here... I hope the same is true for you! Anyway, you'll be surprised at how different it is just a few miles over the border... especially with the language (I had to talk slower and use fewer Scottish words just to be understood!)

Hey Bruce, How's it going? So, you had to talk slowly for them to understand you? I can only imagine if you came here to Tennessee and started talking. The first words out of your mouth, we would start huddlin around you wanting to know who you were and where you were from and asking all kinds of questions........ (we can't help it, we're a curious bunch of people)........ Living in the south, we have our own language just as you Scots have yours. Hey, I'll share some of mine if you share some of yours!!! Scured = Scared Ruurnt = Ruined Perty = Pretty Holler = Hollow Got lots more!!!!! But I gotta run for now. Take care..

The language in Scotland has a few regional variations... some words used in Edinburgh/the east might not be used (or even known) in Glasgow/the west! However, here are a few for you: Aye = Yes (except when used with right, as in Aye Right when it means No Way or Not Likely!) Ken = Know Ben = Through Canny = Shrewd/Cautious (but not to be confused with Cannae = Can't) Dinnae = Don't Actually it might be easier just to link to a Scottish Vernacular Dictionary

Hello Bruce, Welcome to Tartan Blood! Now I know a Bruce from Scotland. He used to have a message board I was very active in years ago. Wondering if your the same guy. If you are, I always liked you a lot and very happy to see you here. If your not the same guy? Welcome again and hope you enjoy being part of this wonderful group of people. Looking forward to getting to know you and more about your country! Rosemary Just thought I'd do a quick intro before heading off for the day... tho when I get back it looks like I'll have loads of reading to do! Anyway, my name's Bruce and tripped over this forum while doing a search for all things Scottish on the internet. Some of you already might know of me as I certainly recognise some names in here... if you do know me try and remember my good points and let everyone else discover the bad ones for themselves! So why am I here? Well, the all things Scottish bit above should be a clue there... I love this country that I am so lucky to live in! That's all for now... more later (unless of course someone remembers my REALLY bad points and I get kicked out of here too! :

Hi Rosemary and LLady!
Rosemary, I actually do run my own forum and have done for a couple of years now. I am also a member of quite a few other forums about Scotland, but prior to my own the one I was most active on was Undiscovered Scotland's excellent (but now sadly defunct) forum!
Anyway, while I am not claiming to be the Bruce you know, there is a chance I might be... so its nice to know you (might have) liked me! ;D
