A 22-year-old police officer was found shot dead Wednesday next to her patrol car in the southwestern German town of Heilbronn, and her 24-year-old patrol partner was seriously wounded, officials said. The two were found around 2 p.m. (1200 GMT) in a large open area known as the Theresienwiese in the city of 120,000, which is near Stuttgart. Police were searching the area with helicopters and said the two officers' guns and handcuffs had been taken. They warned motorists not to pick up hitchhikers and to report any hitchhikers they had picked up. www.iht.com/articles/ap/2007/04/25/europe/EU-GEN-Germany-Officer-Killed.php

It's horrible to hear things like that Andi, so many nutters around everywhere, it's terrible for their families and colleagues, hope they catch those responsible and throw away the keys. It does make you wonder if these people can be rehabilitated into decent society, its all you seem to hear about here with the lousy sentences some of them get.

Right you are Elly. It's kinda fatal as these things seem to get 'normal'. I'm still very shocked and do know to be wary all the time but it seems like the two of them didn't even have a chance.

Nowadays , the people accept such things , forgetting that the Officers had families who cared about them . Who ever did this atrocious act , knew how to get close and deliver the fatal shots . I hope he/ they are caught and punished for such a cowerdly act .
