Weir poised to seal Rangers moveEverton defender David Weir will hold signing talks with Rangers on Monday as Walter Smith begins rebuilding the Ibrox squad. The 36-year-old Weir has spoken with Smith who signed the former Hearts player during his time in charge at Goodison Park. Despite interest from other clubs, Weir's agent Dave Lockwood, says his preferred destination is Rangers. "It would be fair to say his choice would be Ibrox," he told BBC Scotland. Everton are willing to let Scotland international Weir leave as he aims to secure regular first team football. "Everton reluctantly agreed that if David wants to go and play regular football then he can leave and continue his career elsewhere," Lockwood added. "Walter has spoken to David and David has spoken to David Moyes and we hope to speak to them later on Monday but if it works out, he will be going to Rangers." Weir - who has been capped 52 times - was brought back into the international fold by Smith after a fall out with former national coach Berti Vogts. Weir's international colleague Andy Webster is expected to get clearance to play for the Ibrox club following his loan move from Wigan. news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/r/rangers/6262693.stm

Rangers fail with second Gow bid newsimg.bbc.co.uk/media/images/42436000/jpg/_42436351_alangow203.jpgFalkirk have rejected a second offer from Rangers for forward Alan Gow. Earlier this month, the Bairns knocked back a bid believed to be £100,000 for the 24-year-old who is out of contract at the end of the season. "The new offer showed only a very slight improvement on the initial offer," read a Falkirk statement. "We expect Alan Gow to be available for selection for our SPL match against Kilmarnock on Saturday at the start of a very important week for Falkirk." Wolverhampton Wanderers also had a bid for Gow rejected, while Aberdeen and Hibs spoke to the player about the possibility of a pre-contract agreement. Bairns head coach John Hughes has said he would not accept any less than £500,000 for the left-sided player. Rangers manager Walter Smith has recruited defensive duo David Weir and Ugo Ehiogu but admits it is hard finding new faces in January. "You can appreciate everybody's position," said Smith. "At this time of year, it's not ideal to lose someone unless you can bring someone else in. "We were faced with that decision with Jeremy Clement. I wasn't that keen on letting him go but the player wanted to go and there wasn't a great deal we could do about that." news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/f/falkirk/6250221.stm

Rangers v Hearts New Rangers signing Ugo Ehiogu is included in the squad and could partner fellow veteran David Weir in the centre of defence. However, Andy Webster, Dado Prso and Steven Smith remain on the sidelines for the Ibrox club. Hearts goalkeeper Craig Gordon will return after missing last week's win over Falkirk with a groin strain. Mirsad Beslija, David Cesnauskis, Robbie Neilson and Mauricio Pinilla are all missing with injuries. news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/scot_prem/6300641.stm
