I like Ray liotta too, but haven't heard of that one, probably be a while before it comes here.
I did watch the Elizabeth series with Helen Mirren recently and was really disappointed in it, I thought it would have been sort of more true to the story but it wasn't at all, even had Elizabeth and Mary meeting which of course never happened, shame though. It made out Elizabeth was a great beauty of her time which is bunkum, and so sypathetic to Mary's execution she was wearing her jewellery and pearls before she was even cold.
I've always liked Helen Mirren's shows, but not this one.
I heard she has just finished some series or film, playing the present Queen in the aftermath of Diana's death, should be interesting.

Hey Elly! I am so glad to hear your opinion on the Elizabeth I miniseries as I have had no one to discuss this movie with till now! I wondered how accurate it all was. I was very confused because the one with Cate Blanchett had totally different characters she was supposedly in love with and protecting her. so I am confused as to which movie is more accurate. Can you say? I honestly loved both movies though, regardless. I did love this one with Helen Mirren, but that is just me! I really must study the history of Elizabeth I to know the true history. But I loved the acting so much of Helen Mirren, Jeremy Irons and Hugh Dancy...what a cutie he was! #devil# If I was only 30 years younger I would have kidnapped that guy! LOL Is there a book, Elly, that would give me accurate history of Elizabeth I that you would recommend? But I have my Cate Blanchett, Elizabeth, the Virgin Queen, to always watch as I have 20 times before! I so love that period of history and that movie. Thanks so much, Elly! I really want to know the truth about the period of history. Then I will probably get mad at both movies, just like most Scots get mad at Braveheart, eh? Just like we Americans get so mad at The Patriot as it is so inaccurate... yet I still love the movie! I have mixed feelings. I know Hollywood feels it has to do these artistic films, but if they are going to do historic films, I honestly wish they would be historically accurate....although I know they are not documentaries but films produced with artistic liberties. Oh well..sigh! Ok, I will shut up now. LOL I like Ray liotta too, but haven't heard of that one, probably be a while before it comes here. sorry Rosemary for spouting off but I was so disappointed that they never stuck to the true story of Elizabeth, just the little facts more about Mary Stuart probably that riled me #embarrassed# #laugh# whom I think has been treatly badly by a lot of historians, considering she was only a teenager when she arrived back in Scotland, but have since watched the series again with Helen Mirren (whom I think is a great actress) and second time around quite enjoyed it, maybe because I knew what to expect #laugh#
I will start a thread on the book thread for books on Elizabeth
