It's James Blond By Nicole Lampert, Daily Mail, Showbusiness Editor 11 October 2005 He has just proved his ladykilling credentials by seducing Sienna Miller from under the nose of his friend, Jude Law. Now Daniel Craig is about to become the biggest seducer of all - Ian Fleming's James Bond. The actor, who found fame as Geordie in the BBC series Our Friends in the North in 1996, got the job after an 18-month mission to replace Pierce Brosnan. Scores of others, including Law himself, Ewan McGregor, Colin Farrell and Orlando Bloom, were considered but rejected. In the end a shortlist of two emerged - Craig and newcomer Henry Cavill. The pair were auditioned again and tried on tuxedos to see how they would look in the quintessential Bond clothing. Craig, 37, whose choice will be confirmed by producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson later this week, will be the sixth Bond, but the first blond. He will star in the 21st Bond film, based on Ian Fleming's first book Casino Royale. Craig has said he does not like the fact that the films are more about gadgets than feelings. He added: 'It's a big machine and it makes a lot of money - so why would you change something that makes a lot of money?' www.thisislondon.com/showbiz/articles/20594611?source=Daily%20Mail&ct=5

Well i must admit i was surprised to hear that Daniel Craig would be the next Bond , i was expecting someone like Ewan McGregor to be the next choice . Even so i wish him good luck in his films and i hope he can fill those shoes left for him from the best eg Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan .

As a big Bond fan all I can say is time will tell. I can't picture the man as Bond but...we'll see.

Aye LLady i agree let him have his chance and prove his worth . Since I have read a few of the original novels by Fleming I know that sometimes I can be just a bit critical of the screen Bonds. But I say bring him on! I'm looking forward to seeing it.

Haven't seen the film, he just isn't what I picture of James Bond, though the film seems to be rating well. Haven't read any of the books myself, my brother was a big fan of both the books and films, he used to take me to see them, was Sean Connery in the part then. Haven't seen anyone else play him.

Hi Elly , i have read in the past several bond books and thought they were not bad , the films are i would say better as Ian Flemming imagined as he wrote . Of course there were a couple of bond films where the awaited standard was not delivered to the cinema public . As a bond fan i would like to see Daniel Craig doing the bond thing , i have a feeling that firstly being sceptical , i will be surprised .

Ladies and gentlemen, I was able to watch the new Bond movie with Daniel Craig. Like you, Hamish, I was very sceptical and went there with mixed emotions. I was surprised in a VERY POSITIVE way - actually I loved the film and I really loved the way Craig was acting. No telling any more now; don't want to spoil the fun for all of you but I recoomend this movie; give it a try if you get a chance!

I think that my problem may be some of the re writing of the movie line, among other things. Judi Dench's "M' would not have been 007's first "M" as a new 00. I expected Bond to look younger since this was showing the start of his career, but he didn't. As a long time Bond fan I have learned to accept changes of face, Connery, Lazenby, Moore, Dalton, Brosnan, but not a dramatically different personality. Many of the elements that I was acustomed to seeing in a Bond movie wasn't there. What I will have to do is see it again with a very open mind, who know it may grow on me. I own every James Bond movie since Sean Connery, and I'm not sure that I would buy this one.

It's a quite dramatical change, I agree with you at that, LLady. This bond movie is a very different one and I didn't expect anything. I went there just to see how Craig would act like and I was surprised in a nice way. You are right about "M" and maybe a few other things but as a film it was done ok. You are also right that you need a very open mind. I knew it would be very different but all in all I really loved the movie.

I agree, I do need to see it again, I will probably wait until it comes out on DVD. I always expect Bond movies to be traditionally a certain way, this one is very different.
