Hi Mike we are on Continental, have a short lay over in newark, just enought time to get off and find the next depature gate. Ahh, one of those short lay-overs that virtually assures your baggage won't make the trip with you? I abhor sitting in airports, but I always like to be there long enough to make sure my baggage has time to get on the next plane with me.

Today was the first day of the 2006 World Highland Games in Callander north of Stirling. We left the house this morning in loads of time. The journey would normally take us 1 hour 15 minutes. We left this morning allowing us two and a half hours to travel. All went well untill we got 2 miles from Callander and we hit the traffic jam. Well no other choice but to sit in it untill it cleared. So we missed the opening parade etc. The weather was good up untill around 5pm when it started to rain and with our car parked in a field we decided to get the car out before the ground got to soft. But I did get some photos which I wish to share with you all. Approaching Callander Photo of the traffic jam Still stuck in the traffic jam but now in Callander Some of the crowd at the Highland Games. Compitition time. Tossing the cabber time This is one of the Keltic Goldwings that were also on show. Even the young farmers turned up in there slightly older tractor One of the bird of prey centres even turned up with a selection of birds. Even some Police forces allowed there dog handlers to attend with there dogs. Today was the turn for the young dogs. Tomorrow is for the older dogs with more experience. And some of the handlers even stopped to allow us to take photos. This Officer and dog had travelled from Yorkshire England. The Highland Games would not be same without the local pipe band. Callander Pipe Band. The shows were even at the event. Please note the smoke is coming from the BBQ behind the shows. This was the main reason why we decided to move the car and travel home. Yes it started to rain before we got the event ground. And it rained most of the way home. Hope you all enjoyed the first day of the Callander Highland Games.

Good shots, Neil. I really enjoy the scenery in the Callander area. A pal and I were up that way 3-4 weeks ago and it was great!
