Here's one that I read some years ago and is still one of my favorites.
UNTIL THE DAY BREAKS by Sallie Lee Bell
A sweeping novel of romance and high level political corruption in the reign of Herod the Great
Herod Antipas, Tetarch of Galilee, planned to bolt the Roman Empire and establish a kingdom in Jerusalem with himself as ruler of the Eastern world. These were no idle thoughts. But they were now threatened by his own helpless entanglement with the beautiful slave girl Mara...and the growing fury of his wife Herodias.
Sent away to her sister in Jerusalem, Mara finds herself torn between the promised life of ease..and her new lover Judah, disciple of John the Baptist. It isn't long, however, before the lovers are discovered... an the wrath of Herod brings Mara and Judah face to face with killer lions before a cheering, maddened crowd!
"Until the Day Break by Sallie Lee Bell is a prize winning tale of adventure and intrigue, a sweeping epic of love, death, unleashed jealousy and a tyrannical struggle within the Roman Empire at the time of Christ."
The book has only 244 pages so serious readers could probably get through it in a day or less. The down side is I don't know if the book is still in print or not.

Haven't heard of that book but sounds really good! For some reason andi I don't know of any one else that has heard of the book either. I'm not at home right now but I think that the book must be almost 30 years old. It is a good story.

I have already read: Charming the Highlander: When a plane crash strands brilliant scientist Grace Sutter on an icy mountaintop in Maine, she finds herself alone in the wilderness with the only other surviving passenger – Greylen MacKeage, a sexy, medieval warrior who's been tossed through time to find the woman he's destined to love. Forced together to survive the harsh, wintry landscape, neither expects the fierce passion that flares between them. But Grace is not used to letting her heart take control, and Greylen will settle for nothing less than her heart's surrender… Loving the Highlander: When Sadie Quill comes upon an unbelievably gorgeous man lying naked beside a lake, she can't resist taking his photo – and is quickly trapped in a passionate confrontation with the fierce stranger. Discovering the identity of this irresistible warrior will complicate Sadie's search for a legendary gold mine. For he is Morgan MacKeage, a medieval highlander in modern-day Maine, a man with the fury of the untamed wilderness pounding in his veins – and the power to unlock Sadie's fragile heart. Wedding the Highlander: Talented surgeon Libby Hart is fleeing to Pine Creek, Maine, when her car spins out of control and crashes into a pond. She is rescued by Michael MacBain, a medieval highlander trapped in the modern world by a wizard's spell. Wounded in loved once before by a modern woman, Michael wants nothing to do with Libby, but he can't resist the intense desire she stirs within him. Can this proud warrior pledge his heart to a woman whose secret threatens to change their lives forever? Tempting the Highlander: She has the power to tempt him beyond all reason... Catherine Daniels arrives in Pine Creek, Maine, at just the right time for Robbie MacBain. She is on the run from her ex-husband, and Robbie is a sexy, single foster parent who needs a housekeeper while he travels back in time to medieval Scotland. Unbeknownst to Catherine, Robbie's looking for a book of spells to save the future of his family ... and little did he expect to find a burning passion in Catherine's arms. Can Robbie seal his family's fate while enticing Catherine to follow him and her own heart wherever love will take them?
