Was in Edinburgh this afternoon. And it was funny being able to move around Edinburgh without any problems. This is due to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and Bok Festival having finished. The Edinburgh Tattoo is running his week. Then it is also finished. So this Sunday the 2nd Sept at 9 pm will see the start of the Edinburgh Festival Firework Show for 2006. This should last approx 30 minutes. And is very well attended. Princes Street is closed to traffic and will have around 250,000 people watching from there. We shall be heading just north of Princes Street to Inverleith Park where they have the Family and disabled parking and viewing. And it is free. So having now worked out the problem at Aviemore taking photos of the fireworks. I should be able to manage to get it right on Sunday. Reading the reports in the evening paper they say the Edinburgh Festival has broken a few records again. Most of the Tattoo tickets were sold out by February this year. So if you are thinking of attending in 2007. Then I think about booking early.

FIREWORKS TO BRING EDINBURGH FESTIVAL TO AN END FOR 2006.
Thousands of people are expected to flock to Edinburgh centre to watch the fireworks concert to mark the end of the Edinburgh International Festival. It will also be the last time the spectacular finale will be sponsored by the Bank of Scotland.
More than 100,000 fireworks will be used to illuminate the skyline against the backdrop of Edinburgh Castle.
The 45-minute performance kicks off on Sunday at 2100 BST with live music from the Scottish Chamber Orchestra.
Scotland's internationally acclaimed young conductor Garry Walker has been rehearsing with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra for their performance of Prokofiev's passionate and dramatic Romeo and Juliet.
The Bank of Scotland Fireworks Concert is the biggest annual event of its kind in Europe using 4.5 tonnes of explosives, with over 150 firing sequences and up to 200 fireworks in each sequence.

Hello to you all. Well the Edinburgh Festival was brought to a close last night with the 25th aniversary firework show. When we woke yesterday morning it was heavy rain. And this did not clear untill mid afternoon. So Christine and myself headed for Inverleith park on the north side of Edinburgh to watch the fireworks. This is the main family viewing area. And has everything from snack bars to shows plus the big TV screen so you can watch the band playing live from the Ross Band Stand in Princes Street Gardens. They recon there was around 250,000 people in Princes Street last night with approx 15,000 people in Inverleith Park watching the fireworks. This park is approx 4 miles north of the castle and lower in level than Princes Street and the castle. This is some of the photos I took last night to try and show what is was like. This next photo was meant to be the start of the famous waterfall effect down the castle rock face. But someone walked in front of me just as was about to get more photos. So this is the only one I got. And the final photo. This was the big firework approx half a tonne of explosives in firework. Yes it was a loud bang and fireworks spreading all over Edinburgh. The fireworks were set of to the music from Romeo And Juliet. and I am sorry I did not get the heart shaped fireworks that were being set of into the sky. People were phoning, texting and even emailing the radio station that was involved last night to say they could see the fireworks from as far awy as mid Fife, West lothian. And even people on high hills in the Stirlingshire area were able to see the fireworks. Hope you enjoyed the photos. Neil
