I'm envious it's sounds so easy for you, from Germany to visit Scotland, how wonderful Can I please ask how long it takes to fly from Germany to Scotland, and Andi are you allowed to take your pets with you. Where ye frae - well for me it's New South Wales just south of Sydney. Kanga Hi kanga, it usually takes just 1,5 hours so it's really easy and cheap to get there. Even Lufthansa is offering quite affordable tickets recently. But for this year we might take the ferry from the Netherlands or France or even drive up these 1500 kilometres to Scotland. Flying with a dog would be really expenisve as she'd be considered as excess luggage, she's 25 kilogramme just now and not fully grown yet! We usually prefer flying though, it's just the easiest way in my opinion.

I guess, german people are living there... ;D Actually, I learned that many Germans are living in remote parts of Scotland, far away from those hectic cities.... Its a long way by car from Hamburg to Amsterdam, considering there are two kinds with us. However, every time we see the ferry at IJmuiden we are happy - its almost done!....

I wonder if you ever travelled by Superfast Ferries? Would you recommend it?

No, because thats 300 more kilometers more to go.... From Hamburg to Amsterdam 500 km, Hamburg to Zeebruegge abt. 800 km. Just have checked aferry.de - it looks like they now do offer Ijmuiden-Newcastle. However, after comparing the prices DFDS seems to be much cheaper. I'm still dreaming of the route Esbjerg-Newcastle, actually that was the shortest way from Hamburg, then it got cancelled...

Sorry I can not be much help with this one.
We have only even seen the Superfast Ferry sitting in the Habour while crossing the Forth Road Bridge. Or sailing in the North Sea just of shore from Coldingham Bay.

Welcome maknowsbest! You have been living on each continent except of Asia already; what a life! Nice to meet you, Shirley. I'm from Germany; never left my country yet. Where in Ohio do you live? I have friends in Ohio living quite in the North, north of Columbus and I'm planning to go and see them in the next few years, means as soon as I have saved the money for the trip.
