I thought we could discuss our favourites, share memories and whatever fits this topic. So who are YOUR favourites?

I have so many favourites too, just love music, all different types, I don`t know where to begin, will fill them in later Funny how music does fix itself into your brain though, sometimes you remember events, or good news or bad news you have got and the song that was playing on the radio at the time, just sticks in your mind each time you hear that particular song, it`s kind of soothing in a way

I have a lot of favorites too. Could go on and on. My current favorite is an American band who play Scottish music with a rock bent called "The Rogues." I just got two of their CDs and love them! I also love The Wicked Tinkers, another American band who play Scottish music. I am going to see them in concert in three weeks. Can't wait!

I'm not sure if nothing beats Cat Stevens but he is (was?) a really good one!! "Morning has broken" and "Father and Son" are songs that will still be known in many years I think. Real classics. Good taste so far, anglo! ;D

Recently as i was up visiting Damian i stayed by a long time friend of mine who is a singer and was since years a DJ in the local area . Everytime i always had long and very indepth conversations about music with him . Both well knowing in musical history and both loving so many bands and their music . Everytime i stay there it is a pleasure to check out his music collection and watch any rare footage of bands on dvd or video . Anyway before i ramble on he talked about country music and it´s roots and influences on present country music . Having heard a couple of songs but not the best from him i asked about Johhny Cash . Well i listened to songs from him and watched early concerts (San Quentin etc ) and thought know i see , where many artists pay homage to this man . My personal impression which i always had was thankfully proved wrong , listening to his lyrics and his not before known emotion in his music , i was proved wrong . I know there is at the moment a film about his life in the cinemas , i will check it out when i can and enjoy it .

have to agree with you there about the man in black.however many others in the country music had as big if not bigger effect on modern music.probably the most well known was carl perkins.(blue suede shoes) but many more have contributed and are sadly overlooked by the youth of today
