Hi to you all.
I shall cover two links in one go with this one. The first being what is it like outside and the other being car drive.
We decided to take nice drive out in the Scottish Borders. So we took of and headed south on the famous A7 Border tourist route for approx 4 miles then turned and headed over the Moorfoot Hills towards Inerleithen. Inerleithen is the home of the Robert Smaile Printing works and the famous St Ronans Well.
Then we went past the drive way to Traquair House and past the expanding village of cardrona. Cardona used be all of 6 houses and now has over 150 houses plus a MacDonalds Hotel. Plus a new golf course. And more housing is planned. Then we headed for peebles and then took the back road road via Cademuir and over the old Manor Bridge Bridge. Then up to the view point over looking Peebles. Then down into peebles for a rest stop. Then headed north via Eddleston and leadburn then Penicuik which was famous for the Edinburgh Crystal and plus the Valleyfield paper mills that used to produce the paper for the bank notes.
Then home via Loanhead famous for the coal mining. Over to Eskbank Dalkieth for some last minute shopping and home via Newbattle Abbey then Newtongrange famous for the Scottish Mining museum. Then a few minutes after passing the museum we are back home checking the photos.
This is near the top of the Moorfoothills looking west. yes that is snow on the hills.
This one mile further down the same road but looking south. Yes confirmed Snow on them hills
This is on the back road south of Peebles which is very busy during the summer time with locals out for picnics etc. But during winter you hardly see anyone on this road.
This is the most likely method of transport used in this area. And even the dog with them is wearing a Hi Vis vest.
As I said we crossed the old Manor Bridge. This how we know it is a Old bridge.
Looking at the side of the bridge.
This might show just how narrow this bridge is to motorists. Yes we have seen many tourist get stuck with Caravans on this road. And it is easy done as there is no signs to say the width of the bridge. The council recon the bridge has been here long enough for people to know it is a narrow bridge.
looking over peebles form the one of the two view points atthe top of the hil after Manor Bridge. The other view point looks west.
While this one over looks peebles and gives great views looking north on a good clear day.
The white Building is the famous peebles Hydro Hotel.
Looking over Peebles again.
Hope you enjoyed this little tour of the Scottish Borders. And seen what it was lile outside also.
Neil
