A time to make friendsIn summer 2006, the world’s best footballers will be meeting in Germany to decide who the world champions are. Towns and stadiums will be transformed into a great open-air party: more than three million fans from all over the world will celebrate the fun football festival together. One of the many websites wm2006.deutschland.de/EN/Navigation/Home/home.htmlnews.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/world_cup_2006/default.stmDo you watch the matches? Germany won 4:2 (Germany : Costa Rica) yesterday.... yahoo!!! With England playing in Frankfurt just now I'm glad not to be on duty there... was on nights yesterday!

Thanks Andi, its great having this thread, good to hear Germany won, not hearing much about the games over here at all except snippets on the nightly news, thought they would have had a bit more information really, or even telecast the games on TV but not that I know of anyway.

OF COURSE I'm watching the games ... not only the ones of the German team but as many of all the others as I can manage! ;D Call me a maniac.... YEAAAAAAAAAH...Germany won yesterday and as usual I was close, very close to a heart attack while watching the game #happy#; and I was shouting and yelling and if you heard my comments on the referee sometimes... ... och well... The World Championship started very peacefully; let's hope it will last that way.

That's right, there were just a few rioters of what I've heard. The Cup has started really well. England : Paraguay 1:0 Trinidad & Tobago : Sweden 0:0

Thanks Andi, its good hearing how the teams are doing, its a pity it isnt televised here, had it been golf, cricket or tennis it would have been. Soccer has been gaining a lot more popularity here the past few years among the schools, Krystal played for the local team when she was at high school. Glad to hear England scraped through Hamish

The Socceroos did a marvellous job and had their first victory in a World Cup competition ever yesterday! ;D ... Australia vs. Japan 3:1! The other results: Czech Republic vs. USA 3:0 Italy vs. Ghana 2:0

Aye, that was a good one though I didn't get to watch the whole match. Going to watch Brazil Croatia tonight, I've a colleague who's Croatian so should be fun!
Looking forwards to Germany's next match tomorrow as this might be one of the few I can watch at HOME! Let's get the BBQ started!
;D
