Very sad day today; Germany was kicked off by Italy in the semi final ... in the last minute (LITERALLY!!) of the extra time. #cry# #cry# #cry# However ... we're proud of our team, a young one with a fantastic fighting spirit. They did a great job and German football is back among the very best tems in the world. ;D Thank you boys, thank you to their coach and all who participated in this great job. You made my country swing and party and the party isn't over yet. Saturday is the last match for the German team and on Sunday is the final...hmmmmm...you bet I HAVE my preferences there....

Yes, it was very very sad. We even shed a few tears. But as I said this team was the best we had for a long time. They didn't have the pinch of luck you need sometimes... We will watch their last match on Saturday night and after that we will celebrate in the streets as we used to celebrate the whole time. They did a fantastic job. After they lost their match on Tuesday I wondered if people here would still fly the flags at their houses and cars. German mentality tends to think a bit negative. But no; most flags are still flying (like mine in the windows of my flat ) and it's a new experience . Something changed in this country and hopefully will survive in the future. So on Saturday night there will be the match Germany vs. Portugal: the final is on Sunday; Italy vs. France.

Very true. I 'watch' the match half-heartedly, hear it in the background to be precise. Not much interest I must admit, would like to see the French as champions though.

Congratulations, Italy!! The only team which ever beat us in the cpmpetition is World Champion now....and it was a better final match than I expected. I have some pics of how we have been celebrating after the matches of the German team. After EVERY match, that means after the lost one against Italy, too. The team deserved it for the way they were playing and fighting. So here we go! And remember that Limburg is only a small town of about 30.000 inhabitants. So you can imagine how many people have been on the streets in bigger towns and cities! (These are my sons celebrating)
