INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULLI went to see the movie and as always I tried to keep my expectations a bit low in order not to be disappointed too much. But of course I was very curious and I WANTED to see "my" Indy again. We have grown older since the first Indiana Jones movie - but Indy is till the same. What does that mean? Maybe that some things bother us more than back then, some a bit ridiculous or illogical scenes. But hey, in the old Indy films there where tons of ridiculous stunts and it always was very cartoonish and yes, often cheesy. And we still loved them for what they are. They are just adventures with a lot of action, mystic and fun, not more. The movie is still an Indiana Jones Movie, it has so many running gags and links to the first three ones, it's truly a tribute to the fans. (Even that Indy starts Mutt to call 'Junior' was a nice one.) This one is a typical Indiana Jones movie, because it just delivers elements that can be found in the first three movies too (the car chases, insects, falling down of waterfalls, e.g.) - but what else do we want? So, maybe just watch the first three again, then relax and just sit back and enjoy this one. It's not supposed to be drop dead serious and realistic. I wasn't bored throughout the whole movie, it was very entertaining. And Harrison Ford? Lucas said he still did all the stunts himself. At the age of 65. And if you ask me I'd say he's probably looking even better than in the other movies - or is it because I have grown older, too? Indiana Jones is back.

Greg and I went to see Mamma Mia last Saturday, it was brilliant, it was so funny, people were dancing a the back of the movie theater, and clapping, I have to say its the first film I have ever seen that people sat through the credits, no one moved, it was too cute!

I finally got to see "The Other Bolyen Girl." the movie based on Phillipa Gregory's book. I so loved this film! I know it mostly fiction, but it got me studying the truth of Anne Boleyn. I thought all involved did a terrfic job.

Saw "Burn After Reading" with Brad Pitt and George Clooney. If you like dark humor, this is the film for you. Unfortunately, Fred and I do and found this film to be hilarious! ;D

Finally I also watched "Burn After Reading" because I usually love the work of the Coen Brothers. I admit I have a bit of a sick humour, too . You are right, Rose - you have to love this kind of humour but for those who do it's a brillant screwball comedy - I almost laughed my a*** off! My expectations were fully met.

STAR TREK The greatest adventure of all time begins with “Star Trek,” the incredible story of a young crew’s maiden voyage onboard the most advanced starship ever created: the U.S.S. Enterprise. In the midst of an incredible journey full of optimism, intrigue, comedy and cosmic peril, the new recruits must find a way to stop an evil being whose mission of vengeance threatens all of mankind. The fate of the galaxy rests in the hands of bitter rivals born worlds apart. One, James Tiberius Kirk (Chris Pine), a delinquent, thrill-seeking Iowa farm boy, a natural-born leader in search of a cause. The other, Spock (Zachary Quinto), grows up on the planet Vulcan, an outcast due to his half-human background, which makes him susceptible to the volatile emotions that Vulcans have long lived without, and yet an ingenious, determined student, who will become the first of his kind accepted into the Starfleet Academy. Kirk and Spock could not be more different. Yet, in their quest to figure out who they really are and what they have to give to the world, they soon become competitive cadets-in-training. With their drastically opposite styles, one driven by fiery passion, the other by rigorous logic, they also become defiant, contentious adversaries, each equally unimpressed with the other, each going all out to be among the special few chosen to join the crew of the most advanced starship ever created, the U.S.S. Enterprise. The crew is headed by Captain Christopher Pike (Bruce Greenwood). Joining him are the ship’s Medical Officer Leonard “Bones” McCoy (Karl Urban); the man who will become the ship’s Chief Engineer, Montgomery “Scotty” Scott (Simon Pegg); Communications Officer Uhura (Zoë Saldana); experienced Helmsman Sulu (John Cho); and the 17-year-old whiz kid Chekov (Anton Yelchin). All will face a harrowing first test that will set in motion the loyalty, camaraderie, daring and good humor that will bind them forever. In the midst of it all, Kirk and Spock will come face-to-face with an undeniable destiny: a need to forge an unlikely but powerful partnership, enabling them to lead their crew to boldly go where no one has gone before.
