Hi just to let the people who have an interest in Clann An Drumma. The Band are playing at a few shows this weekend. And this means they are doing a lot of travelling over the next few days. The highlight of the weekend is the World Highland Games in the small town of Callander north of Stirling. Both Christine and myself will be at this event. Just you try and stop us from going. And yes before all as I shall have camera`s with me. Mainly because I have orders for certain photos already from this event. So I am going to be busy over the weekend. And yes I shall report back as soon as possible to you all with photo`s.

Hi to you all on Tartan Blood. What a weekend it has been. Yesterday we left in plenty time to travel to Callander for the Highland Games and also where Clann An Drumma were playing. See in Stirlingshire for photos of the Games. We got held up with heavy traffic near Callander. Mainly due to the World Highland games being on. So we missed the opening parade with Clann An Drumma leading into the park. Then the next we saw of them was the van leaving heading to there other venue. So we did not get to watch them play. Today we headed for Callander again leaving even earlier and taking a different route in which not many people know about. Wrong think half of Scotland now know the other road. So we were held up again in the traffic. We could however see the show ground one mile down the road and that was it. So again mised the start. We asked if Clann An Drumma were in and the answer was no. So we headed to the other location they were due to play outside the Rob Roy centre in Callander. No Clann An Drumma. We asked around the place no not seen them today. We then decided to travel over to Balloch Loch Lomond side where they also due to play to day. No we did not pass them was even watching for the second vehicle and did not see that either. Arrived at balloch for the Lomond Folk Festival and no Clann An Drumma. but they were due to play at 8pm tonight. But we had to be back to meet someone. So did not get to see them play. So it was home via the Erskine Bridge and Glasgow M8 motorway and home to Gorebrdige. So if I did not get to watch them play. This also means no report or photos for you. But hope you give me full marks for trying to find them.

Hi the latest reports coming to me from three different people from three diferent organisations is as follows. All the storys are the same so their has got be truth in it. The event organisers for both Callander and Balloch had doubled booked two bands and thought it would be good to have both bands playing at the same venues. This under the cirumstances was not a good idea and both bands then decided to pack up and leave. As they did not wish to cause a problem within the surrounding areas they were meant to be playing at. This was what we had thought had happened. But with both event organisers not brave enough to admit to the problem in public. After all it was the event organisers that have let the fans from both bands down at the end of the day. So we can only hope that the both event organisers have learned the hard way from the mistake they have made this year. As we travelled a fair distance over the weekend to watch the band play. But not as far as one other couple who had travelled from England to watch them play. We just hope now that the Edinburgh Festival organisers have not done the same with the bookings.

I wondered how that was all going to shake out, as I had noticed several weeks back that there were two bands scheduled.
I'm surprised the promoters didn't make an effort to keep at least one band on site. That wasn't fair to those who had trevelled, you are most correct.

Got to agree with you Mike it would have been handy if one band were allowed to play. We only had approx 50 miles to travel from our house to Callander. But people had travelled further than us to watch there own good bands. For example it would have been worse for yourself Mike being over on Holiday if you could have made it to Callander or even Balloch to watch your favourite band.
We also heard at one venue that one band were more than welcome to attend. But if the other band turned up they would not be made welcome. I have also spent the last hour working out the dates for Clann An Drumma - AIbannach and Saor Patrol who are all playing the same venues on different dates during the festival. It has taken some working out as they are playing at two different venues during the festival. Think I have it worked out. The reason for this is for parking at these venues. One venue is not a problem for parking for me but the other venue will cause problems. But will work around it.

As I said at the start of the above in reference to the photos. We managed to catch up with the band. What happened was we were out for a run in the car and ended up near St Andrews then south on the coast road to Pittenweem. Where the Art Festival was had started. This festival lasts for week and can attrack up to 20,000 in one week. We had forgotten about Clann An Drumma playing at this event. So we had been there for most of the afternoon. And were on our way home when going round a bend on the road we spot the Clann An Drumma van heading towards us. So a flash of the lights and a wave then find the first safe palce to turn the car round and return to Pittenweem. When we did a place to turn we were 8 miles form Pittenweem in Fife. So it wa try our best to close ground on the Clann An Drumma van. As Christine says motor rally experience showed as we caught up with the van with one mile to go to pittenweem. So we followed this into the village and through it to the venue area. And parked up beside the van for a short period of time untill we spotted a parking place for us. The band played three times before the parade through the streets of pittenweem before finishing playing down on the beach. At this point the organisers set of approx 12 Thai Type Lanterns. Then after the band had finished playing there is a short break and the Fireworks are let of to music. Then another break to allow the crowd to get back to where Clann An Drumma were playing close to the harbour. Then they had one more set to play before packing up and back to Glasgow for the night. Then they were leaving Glasgow early this morning for Aviemore where they were playing today. While I was running around the streets of Pittenweem taking photos of the march. Christine was helping with the Clann An Drumma Stall as people were still walking about looking at the stall and buying Cd`s etc. We did not stay forthe final show as I needed to get back home as I knew I had phone calls to deal with when I got home. So when I finished with these I relaxed online until 3am putting the photos up on this website plus the Clann An Drumma website also. Before going to my bed. And then I was back online at 10am this morning checking a fews thing out. So yesterday was a long day for us but worth it in the end.

Really great pics, Neil! sounds like you had quite a time trying to work it all out to get together with the band! Joe looks so different to me now! He has no mustache or much facial hair! And his hair is so long now. I do so love his snare drumming. I could watch the guy play all day! What an honor they were looking for you to take pics of them, eh?
Thanks so much for sharing!
