Last weekend I saw two of my old favorites: Citizen Kane and Casablanca.
Last night I saw a new movie "Take The Lead" with Antonio Banderas.
Inspired by a true story, Antonio Banderas stars as internationally acclaimed ballroom dancer Pierre Dulane. The film revolves around a professional dancer who volunteers to teach in the New York City public school system. But when his classic methods clash with his students' hip hop instincts, he teams up with them to create a new style of dance and becomes their mentor in the process. "Take the Lead" co-stars Alfre Woodard and marks the feature directing debut of veteran music video helmer Liz Friedlander.
I enjoyed the movie! Some parts of it were predictable, but still the story line, music and dancing were wonderful! I loved the fact that it is based on a true story.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire V for Vendetta!
Set against the futuristic landscape of totalitarian Britain, V For Vendetta tells the story of a mild-mannered young woman named Evey (NATALIE PORTMAN) who is rescued from a life-and-death situation by a masked man (HUGO WEAVING) known only as “V.” Incomparably charismatic and ferociously skilled in the art of combat and deception, V ignites a revolution when he urges his fellow citizens to rise up against tyranny and oppression. As Evey uncovers the truth about V’s mysterious background, she also discovers the truth about herself – and emerges as his unlikely ally in the culmination of his plan to bring freedom and justice back to a society fraught with cruelty and corruption.
Didn't quite know what to expect, but I thought the movie was very well done. I enjoyed it. Lots of action!

Last night we saw a sneak preview of "Failure to Launch".
Tripp (Matthew McConaughey) has never been able to leave the nest. He's always had some reason or other, but now, his desperate parents have had enough. They hire the gorgeous and talented girl of his dreams (Sara Jessica Parker) to get him to move out of the house.
It was cute and funny. Joseph really enjoyed it.

USS Poseidon: Phantom Below a k a The Tides of War When an American Navy fast-attack submarine is sunken off the coast of North Korea and the vessel's executive and engineering officers are killed, the commander of the submarine is forced to choose between returning to the dangerous waters to tap a North Korean underwater communications cable or facing court martial in this deep-sea thriller starring Adrian Paul and Mathew St. Patrick. As the Naval Board of Inquiry begins investigating the strange fate of the sunken submarine, Commander Burt Habley's (Paul) fate looks increasingly grim. Given the opportunity for redemption by returning to North Korean waters with a fleet of U.S. submarines and executing a mission of great importance to American intelligence forces, Habley attempts to keep his crew out of harm's way and complete the mission while avoiding confrontation with the ship's strict executive officer, Steven Barker (St. Patrick). Upon sensing that their submarine is being followed, Habley attempts to lead their pursuer away from the U.S. fleet by changing course much to the chagrin of the rule-bound Barker. When Barker assumes command of the submarine and attempts to continue the mission, a surprise attack prompts Habley to unite the divided crew in a desperate bid to take on the unseen enemy and ensure the safety of his crew and the U.S. fleet. As movies go it was OK. But it starred Adrian so I was content #love#

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
Everyone has bad mornings. You wake up late, you stub your toe, you burn the toast...but for a man named Arthur Dent, this goes far beyond a bad day. When he learns that a friend of his is actually an alien with advanced knowledge of Earth's impending destruction, he is transported off the Earth seconds before it is exploded to make way for a new hyperspace motorway. And as if that's not enough, throw in being wanted by the police, Earth II, an insane electronic encyclopedia, no tea whatsoever, a chronically depressed robot and the search for the meaning of life, and you've got the greatest adventure off Earth.
The movie is a lot of fun. It's a bit silly and weird, but fun!

"Sin City" I hated it! Joseph liked it.
Robert Rodriguez (“Spy Kids,” “Once Upon a Time in Mexico”) and comic book icon Frank Miller co-direct SIN CITY, based on the series of graphic novels created, written, and illustrated by Miller. SIN CITY is infested with criminals, crooked cops and sexy dames, some searching for vengeance, some for redemption and others, both. The film incorporates storylines from three of Miller's graphic novels including 'Sin City,' which launched the long-running, critically acclaimed series, as well as 'That Yellow Bastard' and 'The Big Fat Kill.'
Rodriguez, along with Miller, translated these legendary stories from page to screen by remaining absolutely faithful to the look, feel and dialogue of the books.
SIN CITY stars Bruce Willis as Hartigan, a cop with a bum ticker and a vow to protect stripper Nancy (Jessica Alba); Mickey Rourke as Marv, the outcast misanthrope on a mission to avenge the death of his one true love, Goldie (Jaime King), and Clive Owen as Dwight, the clandestine love of Shelley (Brittany Murphy), who spends his nights defending Gail (Rosario Dawson) and her Old Towne girls (Devon Aoki and Alexis Bledel) from Jackie Boy (Benicio Del Toro), a dirty cop with a penchant for violence.
The movie was long, way too long....

"Rory O'Shea Was Here"
All his life, Michael Connolly (Steven Robertson) has lived in the residential care of Dublin's Carrigmore Home for the Disabled. Michael has cerebral palsy, uses a motorized wheelchair, and has a significant speech impairment. Most people find it difficult to make out what he is saying, and simply stop trying. But Rory O'Shea (James McAvoy), a new arrival at Carrigmore, is not like most people—or any of the other Carrigmore residents. Rory is able to understand Michael. Rory has Duchenne muscular dystrophy, a degenerative muscle-wasting condition. All Rory has are the use of two of his fingers, partial movements of his head—and unlimited use of his mouth.
These two young men form a friendship that empowers them to look beyond Carrigmore and its inflexible supervisor Eileen (Brenda Fricker).
wonderful movie!
